Best I81 Traffic Lawyer: In early June, 2017, Derek Fisher, a retired NBA Los Angeles Lakers‘ player and former New York Knicks’ head coach, was involved in a traffic crash in Los Angeles.  Fisher was driving; his passenger was Gloria Govan, a star on the television reality show, Basketball Wives.  According to the California Highway Patrol, Fisher drove his 2015 Cadillac off the highway onto the shoulder hitting a curb and the guardrail.  The Caddy turned over onto its roof.  Fisher was arrested because he smelled of an alcoholic beverage and because he admitted to drinking before driving.  The fact that both Fisher and Govan were uninjured will not prevent Fisher from getting charged with driving under the influence.  Although shaken by the crash, Fisher probably attempted the roadside gymnastics and bootleg eye exam police use to establish probable cause to arrest for DUI.  Unfortunately Fisher did not have access to Bob’s FREE App on dealing with the police.

Best I81 Traffic Lawyer:  Derek Fisher played professional basketball for eighteen seasons in the NBA, mostly with the Lakers.  Fisher acquired five NBA Championships during his tenure with the Lakers.  Fisher was chosen with the 24th pick in the 1996 NBA draft.  He won his first three championships with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal coached by Phil Jackson.  He won his last two championships with Bryant and JacksonFisher has the NBA record for most playoff games played.  Fisher’s 0.4 second buzzer beating shot to win Game Five of the 2004 Western Conference Semis against the San Antonio Spurs is ranked the eighteenth greatest playoff highlight ever.

Oscar De La Hoya DUIOscar De La Hoya is a retired professional boxer who fought from 1992 to his retirement in 2008.  De La Hoya has dual citizenship in the United States and Mexico.  De La Hoya has been called The Golden Boy since high school.  In 1992, De La Hoya took the gold medal in the lightweight division during the 1992 Summer Olympics representing the United States.

Oscar De La Hoya DUI: De La Hoya was The Ring magazine’s 1995 Fighter of the Year.  He was rated the 1997 and 1998 best pound for pounder professional boxer.  De La Hoya comes by his boxing prowess honestly as his brother, father and grandfather were all boxers.  Astoundingly De La Hoya won ten world titles in six different weight classes.  His pay per view income was around $700 million dollars making him the third highest grossing fighter after Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.

Oscar De La Hoya DUI: On Tuesday, January 24, 2017, De La Hoya was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Pasadena, California.  According to law enforcement sources, De La Hoya was stopped for speeding around 2 a.m.  A DUI investigation was begun and ended in De La Hoya‘s arrest for DUI.  De La Hoya, like anyone attempting the roadside gymnastics labeled the standardized field sobriety tests, “failed” the tests.  I put failed in parentheses since the SFSTs are not pass fail tests.  Instead, they are supposed to be prognosticators of probable blood alcohol contents of the subjects tested.

Oscar De La Hoya DUI:  De La Hoya was released to his manager.  De La Hoya is not stranger to problems with alcohol having undergone alcohol rehab in 2011 and 2013.  According to sources, De La Hoya was seen bar hopping prior to being stopped.

Florida RB Jordan Scarlett Arrested For Marijuana Possession

Florida RB Jordan Scarlett Arrested For Marijuana Possession

Florida RB Jordan Scarlett Arrested For Marijuana Possession

Florida RB Jordan Scarlett Arrested For Marijuana Possession: Jordan Scarlett is a very talented true freshman running back who plays for the Florida Gators Football team.  Scarlett had been having a great first year with the Gators and was slotted to play in the Citrus BowlUnfortunately, Scarlett was charged with marijuana possession on December 19, 2015 and under league rules will be suspended from playing in the Citrus Bowl.  Apparently he was charged with the possession offense in his dorm room at the Keys Residential Complex. Florida will be playing Michigan in that post season game. Florida will also be missing starting right tackle Mason Halter and backup linebacker Anthony Harrell.  Scarlett, although only a freshman, is the third leading Gator with over 180 yard rushing on a 5.3 yard gain per carry average.  Commentators had been predicting a significant role for Scarlett due to his speed and explosive running power versus the tough Michigan defense.  Florida will still have Kevin Taylor and Jordan Cronkrite to pursue the Gator running game.

Florida RB Jordan Scarlett Arrested For Marijuana Possession: Scarlett has a January 6, 2016 court date in Alachua County Court.  Scarlett was highly recruited out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Once at Florida Scarlett has had a less than perfect freshman year due to poor practice habits.  Coach McElwain ended up benching him.

The legal status of marijuana is very confusing to many people.  It no longer makes sense that marijuana is legal in some states and not legal in others.  Many students do not understand that their college or university is under a federal mandate to stringently police the use of marijuana by students in college housing.  It appears that Scarlett fell to that increased scrutiny.  Scarlett also probably did not understand that he had no duty to help law enforcement build a case against him.  He did not understand that he did not have to open the door to his room unless the Officer had a search warrant.  Scarlett also probably did not realize that he was entitled to ask for a lawyer and to make no other statements.

If you have a Virginia traffic charge or have been charged with possession of marijuana contact Bob Keefer’s office immediately at or at 540.433.6906.  Bob’s staff will set up a FREE CASE REVIEW for you to speak with Bob by phone.  Bob will share his insights based on over 30 years experience into your particular case.

Best Harrisonburg Speeding Ticket Attorney:  I get a good number of calls from people stopped for moving violations and then arrested because their driver’s license is suspended.  Many of them are out of state drivers who got a traffic ticket in Virginia, ignored it and then got stopped again.  During that stop the motorist finds out that his or her right to drive in Virginia is suspended.  One fellow got held for two days in jail over a several year old unpaid speeding ticket.  My advice is pay these tickets.  The Government has gotten much better about sharing that information in the law enforcement community.  You do not want to spend the weekend in jail and incur the costs of posting a bond over an unpaid traffic ticket.

Best Harrisonburg Speeding Ticket AttorneyOT Genasis recently found out that my advice about paying your tickets saves time.  O.T. got stopped in Los Angeles for failing to stop for a red traffic light.  The police then found that he had unpaid traffic tickets.  O.T. was then arrested and jailed until he could post bond to ensure his appearance at his hearing on running the red light and driving suspended.

Best Harrisonburg Speeding Ticket Attorney:  If O.T. was in Virginia he would have to pay to have his license reinstated in Virginia even if he did not have a Virginia license.  He would then have to pay the unpaid traffic tickets with costs and interest.  He would then have to pay for any fines and costs associated with driving suspended.  O.T. would also end up paying increased insurance premiums due to this activity on his license.
